Working in partnership with the association of Nigerian physicians in the America in Southern California, the Doctors health initiative was at some states in the South-eastern part of Nigeria at the weekend, with a mission to empower vulnerable women.
Of particular interest to the mission are widows and young girls who were empowered with skills in sewing and personal hygiene.

Other aspect of the training included Skills for financial planning with financial literacy expert, Mrs ifeyinwa iwunze on ground to provide enlightenment.

The objective of this project is to mitigate the impact of some of the diseases of poverty on widows living in poor conditions by providing them with a sustainable means of livelihood through teaching them sewing and providing them with the initial sewing machine.

Doctors Health Initiative in partnership with ANPA- Southern California sought to empower 30 widows and 20 girls in the eastern part of Nigeria by training them in sewing and giving them each a sewing machine as a start-up for small business. It is hoped that this will be sustainable and place the recipients on the path to economic development and independence. This in turn will contribute in reducing the diseases of poverty associated with poor widows.
