The number one citizen of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed  Nigerians in response to the protesters on Sunday August, 4th, 2024.
He assured Nigerian’s  during his nation wide broadcast that he has heard the demands of the protesters loud and clear.
Clarifying several issues, the president went on to explain why he made the decision to remove fuel subsidy stating that it prevented the greedy and smugglers from the profits they make and also undue  subsidy extended to neighbouring countries who gaiined to the detriment of Nigerians.
However, he appealed to the protesters to suspend the protest and create room for discuss, insisting  that  some persons who have taken undue advantage of the protest to cause turmoil, mayhem as well as looting from innocent citizens should not be allowed.
 
Speaking during his life broadcast, he assured Nigerians that his government is working towards completing pending projects such as improving railroads, power, bridges and other infrastructures.  
He further stated that he understands the pain and frustrations that led to the protest and  his government is committed to listening and addressing the demands of the people.
Nevertheless, some protesters still insist on continuing the protest arguing that president Tinubu has not properly addressed their pressing demands because they were yet to see visible changes not promises without implementations
Some notable Nigerians wonder if the president can keep to his promises and also have the will power to tackle corruption which is the root cause of the challenges the country is faced with.
