The Catholic Safeguarding committee on Thursday emphasized on the need for children to learn more on security measures in order to prevent or avoid any form of abuse.
Speakiing during a seminar orgamised by the JDPC and Committee for safeguarding children and Vulnerable adults in St Timothy parish. Ojodu,one of the facilitators, Mrs Becky Umeyili asserted that children must secure their body by ensuring that they don’t allow people play with them carelessly.
She stressed that they should maintain security and safety in the way they share their personal items such as tooth brushes and private wears,to avoid infection.
Mrs. Umeyili went further to advise the children not to entertain strangers or share private informations about themselves or their parents

Representing the red cross, Mr. Olufemi Ogunfowora highlighted the key examples of good first aiders such as boldness, neatness, skillfulness as well as resourcefulness.
Citing some real life scenarios on how to administer proper first aid, he stated that the children must be oservant of the environment to ensure there are no dangers when the need to administer first aid arises.
However, the safeguarding committee co- coordinator.in the parish , Mrs. Henrietta Babalola outlined some key informations the children should know such as their parents phone numbers and home addresses while she added that the children should note that their body is their private belonging and should not be messed up by anyone.
She ended by advising the children to always dress decently by ensuring that they don’t expose themselves with indecent dressing especially as they return to school.
