
A tragic incident occurred in Ebute Metta, Lagos, as a staff member of an electricity distribution company lost his life due to electrocution while working on faulty electrical wires. The incident, which took place on the night of March 17, 2025, was reported to the Yaba Police Division two days later.
According to the report, the deceased, a 42-year-old male staff member of the company, was allegedly electrocuted around 8:15 p.m. while reconnecting and clearing electrical faults at Borno Way by Ayodele Junction. His colleague, who later reported the incident, stated that he was immediately rescued and rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty upon arrival.
Following the report, a team of detectives visited the scene of the incident to conduct preliminary investigations. The hospital was also visited, where the victim’s body was inspected and photographed. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have assured that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
