The Federal Government has officially released the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) across the nation’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs). In addition, the results of the separate entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja, have also been made public.
At a news conference held on Wednesday in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, described the occasion as “a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria.” The examination, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on June 14, saw a total of 64,578 candidates register, with 61,290 actually sitting for the exam, while 3,288 were absent.
Prof. Ahmad revealed that “out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, 13 candidates obtained the highest score of 202, while 27 candidates obtained the lowest score of 1.” However, the exercise was not without its setbacks. She disclosed that “this year, an unprecedented number of 52 candidates (two candidates from Lagos and 50 candidates from Rivers) were involved in examination malpractice.”

Turning attention to the FGA Suleja examination, Ahmad stated that 3,421 candidates registered, with 3,141 taking the test and 280 absent. The highest score recorded in the FGA exam was 194, while the lowest was one.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to fairness and transparency, the minister emphasized that admission into the Unity Colleges would continue to follow the approved criteria: 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states, and 10 per cent exigency. She also directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure that all admissions are concluded promptly and in strict compliance with the stated guidelines.
“It is a common knowledge that our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country,” Ahmad noted, assuring Nigerian parents that the government remains dedicated to enhancing educational infrastructure, feeding, and teacher quality for effective teaching and learning in the colleges.
The highlight of the event was the formal presentation of the 2025 NCEE and FGA Suleja results to the minister by the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi.
