The Grand Egyptian Museum will host Maiden All Africa Art & Chess Championship ( AAACC) 2026.
It was announced by the organisers that the Continental event which is a land mark to Unite Creativity, Strategy and Culture at Giza will hold from October 1-4

The Organisers stated that the four-day event is designed to connect the continent through art, intellectual competition, innovation and culture. It will feature an international art exhibition, Continental chess championship, cultural performances, business and investment networking sessions, innovation showcases, tourism experiences and recognition awards.
They disclosed that the maiden edition will take place at the iconic museum, with participants expected from across Africa and beyond. The championship carries the theme: “Connecting Africa Through Art, Chess, Innovation and Culture.”
The organisers declared that the AAACC 2026 is more than a competition. It is envisioned as a sustainable platform to celebrate African talent, drive youth participation, strengthen cross-border collaboration, and position Africa’s creative and intellectual industries as engines for economic growth and cultural diplomacy.
“The All Africa Art & Chess Championship is more than a competition. It is a continental movement aimed at connecting Africa through creativity, strategy, innovation and shared cultural heritage,” the organisers said.
“We are creating opportunities for collaboration, investment, tourism and sustainable development while showcasing the immense talents that exist across the continent.”
The event will blend competition with culture and business through a packed program:
International Art Exhibition: Featuring leading visual artists, galleries and collectors from across Africa
Continental Chess Championship : Bringing together chess masters, federations and schools in high-level competition
Cultural Performances: Showcasing music, dance and heritage from different African region.

Aside that, it was reported that the organisers expect participation from educational institutions, government agencies, diplomatic missions, financial institutions and tourism stakeholders.
They further disclosed that the choice of venue is deliberate. The Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the world’s largest museums dedicated to a single civilization, will serve as both host and symbol of Africa’s historical legacy and future ambition. Beyond the championship halls, participants will have access to curated heritage and tourism experiences in Egypt, merging competition with cultural exploration.
However, registration is now open for artists, chess players, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and delegates from Africa and the international community.
The organisers have called on governments, corporate organisations, financial institutions, development agencies and the private sector to support the initiative through sponsorships, strategic partnerships and exhibition opportunities.
Full details on registration, sponsorship packages, exhibition slots, travel arrangements and participation guidelines are available at aaacc.online.
With Africa’s creative economy and chess community growing fast, AAACC 2026 aims to create an annual continental fixture that drives tourism, investment and cultural exchange while putting young African artists and thinkers on a global stage.
For a continent like Africa seeking new avenues of integration, the organisers say the message is clear: Africa’s next chapter will be written not just in boardrooms and stadiums, but on canvases, chessboards, and in shared cultural spaces.
