The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has successfully seized and destroyed 51 cartons of alcohol and 18 jerrycans of methylene chloride, commonly referred to as Madarar Sukurdai, across various locations in the state. This operation is in line with the state’s laws and Islamic values, which strictly prohibit the sale and use of intoxicating substances, including alcohol.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the chairman of the commission, Yahuza Abubakar, emphasized that these actions were part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to uphold public morality and ensure compliance with the state’s legal and religious standards.
Abubakar also highlighted the commission’s role in resolving numerous social issues, reporting that Hisbah had successfully mediated 565 cases over the past year. These cases ranged from family disputes, business disagreements, and inheritance matters to conflicts between communities, unpaid rents, farmer-herder clashes, and various forms of debt.
He further explained that the majority of these cases were resolved amicably, through reconciliation and mutual understanding, demonstrating the commission’s commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and upholding justice within the state.
