Missing UTME Candidate Esther Oladele Found Safe After Distress Message Sparks Online Search

A student who was previously declared missing while heading to her 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Centre has been found.

Reports emerged on Friday about the disappearance of a female UTME candidate during her journey from the Epe area of Lagos State to Ajah.

A Twitter user named Johnson, who identified himself as a relative of the missing girl, revealed that she had sent a distressing message indicating she had mistakenly boarded the wrong vehicle. The missing student was later identified as Esther Oluwafayofubmi Oladele.

According to accounts, Esther had set out on Thursday to ensure she was prepared for her UTME exam scheduled for 9:00 AM on Friday.

Johnson shared that Esther had sent a troubling message to one of her siblings, stating: “I’m scared. I think I entered the wrong car. My eyes are itchy, and I feel sleepy.”

Following this, Johnson appealed to social media users for assistance in spreading awareness to help locate Esther. He added that the incident had been reported at the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah.

He mentioned that the police assured them that they would commence an investigation, which involved sharing the missing person information with other police stations and possibly broadcasting it. However, they also advised the family not to depend solely on the police and to continue their personal search efforts.

When contacted, both the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Lagos State Police had not responded to inquiries at the time of the initial report.

In an update posted on Saturday, Johnson confirmed that Esther had safely returned home.

However, specific details regarding the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and safe return have not yet been made public.
