The Nigerian Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha festivities.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement released on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both within Nigeria and across the Diaspora. He urged the community to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him), encouraging them to use the occasion to pray for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
Eid-ul-Adha 2025: Government’s Commitment to Unity, Progress, and National Renewal
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to people-centered reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to steer Nigeria back onto a path of progress and development.
While wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyful Eid-ul-Adha, Minister Tunji-Ojo called on all Nigerians to unite with the current administration in its efforts to restore Nigeria’s stature as a great nation.
Muslims globally, including those in Nigeria, will observe Eid-el-Kabir on Friday, June 6, 2025, coinciding with the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah on the Islamic calendar. The day of Arafat, which precedes Eid, will be observed on Thursday, June 5.
