EFCC Recovers ₦39.8bn as Ex-NSIPA CEO Halima Shehu Says “I Stole by Mistake”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered the sum of N39.8 billion from Halima Shehu, National Coordinator / CEO. National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) who allegedly transferred N44 billion from a government account to private accounts.

According to reports, Halima Shehu claimed the transfer was made in error, stating “I stole by mistake.”

It was further disclosed that the recovery was made possible through the GC EFCC’s efforts to combat financial crimes and corruption in the country.

However, further nvestigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the transfer and to recover the remaining amount.
