Renowned journalist and TV host of Radio Now 95.3 FM. Kadaria Ahmed warns media practitioners to guide against representing northern women negatively. This call was made at the Arewa training workshop for journalist and media professionals that was held on Tuesday July, 23rd 2024.
At the event,which took place in Yemisi Shyllon museum of Art at Pan Atlantic university Lagos, hajia kadaria Ahmed stated that there is a shifting narrative on the image of the northern people especially northern women being projected as hypocritical in their lifestyle which is not the case because a life of diversity is a life of true living.
However, she advised writers to expand their minds when reporting especially on issues they are not familiar with by doing thorough investigation and come up with balanced stories.
She also emphasized that in addition to enriching the readers, writers should also note that they are enriching themselves as well.
 The one day workshop was an initiative of a renowned and articulate northern female art curator, Aisha Aliu – Bima.  It was aimed at providing journalists with creative tools for critical thinking in reporting.
Sponsored by Africa on filter organisation and spare headed by the director and Manager of the museum, Jess Castellote and Michael Oseghale, there was a panel session which included discussants like Nigeria post war and contemporary painter, Prof Jerry Buhari and deputy editor of This Day, Mr. Okechukwu Uwazuoke.
Participants at the workshop commended the efforts of the organizers, saying the session did empower media practitioners with the ability to remain,objective,creative and original In their their reports.
