Surprisingly after much pressure, Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has surrendered himself to the Lagos State Police Command.
This development comes after he was declared wanted by the police following an altercation with government officials in Ogun State.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, Portable turned himself in at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, Lagos. The Ogun State Police Command has been notified to take custody of the musician.
Portable’s decision to surrender marks a significant turn in the events that unfolded after the altercation on February 5, 2025. The musician had allegedly attacked officers of the Ogun State government who were conducting a routine inspection in the Oke-Osa local government area.
The officials had to seek refuge in a nearby fuel station, where people barricaded Portable and his accomplices with bikes from entering.
Prior to his surrender, Portable had claimed to be undergoing treatment for mental health issues at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta, referring to himself as a “madman” in a bid to garner sympathy.
Portable’s history of controversy is well-documented, with numerous public feuds with fellow entertainers, notable personalities, and even cross-dresser Bobrisky. However, this latest incident may have marked a turning point for him.
