The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Lagos State Branch, has urged the newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police, AIG Tunji Disu, to fulfill his promise of zero tolerance to police corruption.
In a press statement signed by Chairman Comrade Ehi Omokhuale and Secretary Comrade Evelyn Akpa, the CLO called on AIG Disu to focus on several key areas, including beaming a special searchlight on Lagos State, where police impunity and corruption has become alarming.
The CLO demands that the new sheriff eradicates ‘bail fees’ as enshrined in Nigeria law and charged him to put an end to unauthorized checkpoints as well as incessant stop and search that has become a means of extortion and intimidation at Lagos police divisions which led to the 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The organization also wants deliberate punitive measures against erring police officers and a review of the police recruitment policy to prevent criminally minded individuals from joining the force
Meanwhile, AIG Disu has vowed to end impunity and enforce zero tolerance to corruption within the Nigeria Police Force, promising to prioritize professionalism, accountability, and community partnership. He emphasized that Nigerian citizens are the ultimate bosses of the police and urged officers to uphold integrity, compassion, and courage in their duties
