Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in his apartment at Ijedodo.
According to reports, a concerned neighbor at Isheri-Osun Division informed the police on February 23, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m., that he had witnessed Adebayo assaulting his 25-year-old girlfriend on the night of February 21, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m. The reason for the assault remains unclear.
At about 7:00 a.m. on February 23, Adebayo reportedly screamed for help, drawing the attention of neighbors. Upon entering his apartment, they found the young woman lying unconscious on the bed, with visible marks of violence on her body. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Ijegun, where doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.
Following the report, detectives from Isheri-Osun Division visited both the crime scene and the hospital. The victim’s body was inspected and photographed before being transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Morgue in Yaba for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Gbolahan Adebayo, was promptly arrested, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
