The Lagos state Police command has assured the public of its maximum security across the state on July 7, a day often associated with violent cult activities, chaos and killings by different cult groups.
In a statement released on July 6 by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, it was revealed that about 52 suspected cultists were arrested in joint raids of cultists hideouts while they were in preparation to unleash potential mayhem on innocent people during the 7:7 Cultism Day in Lagos State
According to reports, the command acted on intelligence and carried out a proactive and advanced raids on cultist criminal hideouts around Mushin area of the state The suspects are currently detained in police custody and would be charged to court at the end of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police. CP Olohundare Jimoh has issued a stern warning to hoteliers, parents and guardians to prevail on their Children and Wards to desist from violent actions and not allowing cult-related activities in their neighborhoods and communities.
Police Intensify Anti-Cultism Operations to Safeguard Lagos Residents
Additionally, the CP held an operational meeting with the Police Anti Cultism Squads, Special Tactical Squads, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Police State Intelligence Department and specially designated units of the Force against violent crimes and cultism to prevent, arrest and prosecute any cultist or gang of cultists before they unleash mayhem, havoc and destruction on lives and property.
While the Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect Lagosians and visitors, they encourage the public to go about their lawful activities and businesses without fear of harassment or intimidation. Residents are advised to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency lines on 08063299264 and 08065154338.
Nevertheless, the Command’s proactive measures aim to maintain peace and order in the state, and the police are committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and visitors.
