The Silverbird Governor of the Year Award, received by Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reinforced his commitment to delivering good governance and the dividends of democracy to the people of Lagos. In a press release dated 17th March 2025 and signed by Mr. Gbenga Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed that the prestigious award will inspire him to further enhance the lives of Lagosians.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the remarks on Sunday night at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, during the award ceremony. He was accompanied by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and top government officials. In his acceptance speech, the Governor dedicated the award to the people of Lagos, emphasizing their role in the success of his administration.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also took the opportunity to praise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership, acknowledging that the former Lagos State Governor’s innovative policies laid the foundation for the city’s vibrant growth. “His leadership and innovative policies laid the groundwork for our vibrant, dynamic city,” he said.
Further highlighting the impact of President Tinubu’s leadership, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in the country’s economic recovery under the President’s Renewed Hope agenda. “I am grateful to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor and visionary architect of modern Lagos,” he added.
