In a swift response, the Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation on a viral video featuring students of Excel College, Ejigbo, Lagos, where students were seen drinking, smoking, and dancing in a boys’ hostel.
According to a report issued by the Police Public Relations Officer. SP Abimbola Adebisi on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the incident occurred in the month of April 2025, and has sparked public outrage and condemnation, prompting the police to move into action.
It was disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the investigation from the Ejigbo Police Division.
The principal of the school, who also serves as the proprietor, was invited for interrogation but stated that the students seen in the viral video had already graduated and left the institution.
Despite this, the school management is cooperating fully with investigators from the SCID to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident

The Lagos State Police Command is urging all secondary school authorities, parents, and guardians to take proactive steps in guiding their children and wards to ensure that they be of good conduct. They emphasize the importance of instilling good behavior, moral values, and avoiding misconduct that may lead to public outrage or disruption of peace within academic institutions and society at large.
However, it was further reported that investigation is currently ongoing, and the outcome will be made known to the public once concluded.
