The 2025 Women Entrepreneurs and Executives in Tech Summit (WEETS) and Awards ceremony was a resounding success, bringing together media intellectuals, stakeholders, and entrepreneurs in the tech industry at the Radisson BLU, GRA, Lagos, on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The event focused on the theme “IDEA TO IMPACT: SCALING YOUR TECH JOURNEY AND BUILDING ENTREPRENEURSHIP,” highlighting the importance of translating ideas into solutions that drive growth and transform communities.
In her welcome address, Ugochi Emmanuel, convener and CEO of TechLife Media Communications, emphasized that true innovation lies not just in ideas, but in their execution and impact. She noted that scaling a tech journey requires breaking through barriers, embracing resilience, and leveraging emerging technologies to build structures that sustain innovation.
Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General and CEO of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), was ably represented by Ijeoma Akande, who highlighted NITDA’s commitment to ensuring women play a central role in digital transformation. The agency has rolled out initiatives such as women ICT empowerment programs, literacy training, mentorship, and female tech founders training programs, which attracted over 7,000 applicants.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mrs. Tolulase Omodele pointed out that the theme captures the journey of many Nigerian female entrepreneurs and executives who have made significant contributions to business and technology. She emphasized the need to close the gender gap in technology, entrepreneurship, and STEM careers to unlock inclusive growth.
Speaking during the summit, Mrs. Gbemisola Kayode Bolarinwa, Head of Strategy and Governance at the Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, corroborated Dr. Maida’s views, highlighting that women represent only 17% of tech professionals in Nigeria. She stressed the importance of nurturing ideas with purpose to drive transformation.

Other notable speakers included Mrs. Udeme Ufanga, representing the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), who discussed the critical role of women in emerging technologies and digital transformation. She disclosed that over 123 million Nigerians are now legal residence and stressed that globally, women eco economic participation has proven to be a driver of growth and their role in emerging technology is critical in Nigeria.
However, Mrs. Abimbola Ikumariegbe, Chief Operating Officer of VDT, urged that females be encouraged to pursue tech subjects to bridge the digital gap.
The summit featured an insightful panel session moderated by Princess Olamide Odeneye, a cybersecurity expert, with panelists Juliet Njoku (Human Resource Manager, ICSL), Abimbola Comfort Onwuchekwe (Family Life Coach), Kesiena Ogheneruru (Chief Operations, Zoracom), and Mojisola Alabi (Head, Business Development and Strategy, Digivation Network).
They discussed ways women can bridge the gap and Mojisola Alabi introduced ways women can improve their confidence, including igniting their sense of self through self-respect, self-compassion, self-discipline, and self-preservation.
The event also included a book review on Ugochi Emmanuel book titled “The digital Woman” and awards presentation, with multiple award-winning MC Louisa Olaniyi entertaining participants with comic reliefs and prize presentations for simple questions.
