Bridging the Digital Divide: NCC Hosts ITU Africa-BB-Maps Launch in Abuja

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Africa-BroadBand (BB) Maps initiative in Abuja, a project funded by the European Union (EU).

This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and promote digital transformation in 11 Sub-Saharan countries, including Nigeria, by establishing harmonized national broadband mapping systems.

The launch event brought together key stakeholders from the NCC, ITU, and EU, including Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC, and representatives from the EU Delegation to Nigeria.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote digital transformation, poised to drive economic growth and development with the support of the EU and ITU.
