The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, His grace most Reverend Dr Alfred Adewale Martins has charged catechumens in ikorodu deanary to bear fruits of the holy spirit and witness Christ in all that they do.
This call was made during the homily today Sunday 26th February 2022 on the occasion of the ikorodu deanary confirmation ceremony held at St Michael’s Catholic Church Ajaguro.
The Archbishop stressed the significance of the day as it reminds all of the birth of the early Church on the day of pentecost by the outpouring of the Holy spirit.
He said the disciples felt deserted at the death of christ but were emboldened by the Holy spirit and this made them move from hiding in fear to sharing together in the open and it further led to the growth of the Church which we all partake in today.

Martins further congratulated the participants on becoming adults in the Catholic faith as only adults qualify to be soldiers, hence partakers of today’s confirmation stands recruited into the army to Jesus who will fight, not with swords and guns but with the powerful word of God to win souls and populate God’s kingdom.
He ended by listing the gifts of the Holy spirit as highlighted in St Paul’s letter to the Galatians chapter 5 vs 22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
The mass which also had an attendance the Dean of ikorodu Deanary, very Rev Fr Basil Okoro, superior general of claretian missionary fathers (CMF), Very Rev Fr Daniel Onyeayana, Rev Fr Silvester Raymond Umoh, Rev Fr Livinus Orakwe, Rev Fr Ovie Obi, Rev Fr Paul Ariole and the host parish priest, Rev Fr Godwin Eduke, saw over 530 candidates that participated in the Sacrament if Confirmation, the first of its kind in the ikorodu Deanery.
