On thursday, an irate mob of fellow students burned to death a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, simply identified as Deborah.
For’saying unacceptable things about Prophet Muhammad,’ the female student was assaulted and her remains burned.
Deborah allegedly made the alleged blasphemous remark during a disagreement with other students at the school hostel. She was asked to retract and apologize for her statement, but she refused.
Some students allegedly whisked Deborah to the college’s school security outpost for protection. A mob, however, overpowered the officials, murdered the lady, and burned her remains to ashes.
In a video that went viral on Thursday, one of her attackers admitted in Hausa that he started the fire that burned the student to death.
An anonymous student at the institution confirmed the incident to FIJ. He revealed that the school’s administration had closed it down indefinitely via an official statement.
Following today’s early morning student rampage in the college, the college administration has decided to close the college indefinitely, effective immediately.” As a result, all students are hereby directed to vacate the college campus immediately (May 12, 2022),” according to the release.
