General Babangida was in power between 1987 and 1993 when he stepped aside in the heat of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election.
Addressing a gathering of past and present leaders in attendance at the event held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Thursday 20, February 2025, he warned against political instability in Nigeria while other former Military leaders like General Yakubu Gowon expressed his appreciation for Babangida’s efforts to restore his rank of General after it was stripped off him, following the 1976 coup…
Other Military leaders like General Abdusalami Abubakar and Former President Goodluck Ehele Jonathan applauded the former military Head of State. Gen. Babangida and described him as most charismatic especially for creating Presidential libraries to preserve Nigeria”s political history.
Several notable personalities made their monetary donations including billionaire business men like Arthur Eze and Aliko Dangote who donated the highest amount with the sum of N8bn broken down into N2bn annually for four years.
