
In a swift police operation, detectives from the Ebute-Ero Division in Lagos have arrested a suspected traffic robber and recovered stolen goods valued at ₦20 million. The arrest followed a prompt response to a tip-off about a daring highway theft that occurred on the CMS-Marina Bridge.
According to police reports, on April 25, 2025, a criminal gang brazenly stole a large sack filled with assorted human hair from a moving truck. The truck driver was reportedly unaware of the theft as the vehicle made its way across the CMS-Marina Bridge in Lagos Island.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers quickly mobilized and tracked one of the suspects to the Marina car park beneath the bridge. The suspect, identified simply as Austine, sustained injuries after leaping from the bridge in an attempt to evade arrest. He was caught in possession of the stolen items.
According to a statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, May 8, 2025, Austine is currently receiving medical treatment under close police supervision, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang. The stolen goods, estimated at approximately ₦20 million, have since been recovered.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding road users and ensuring public safety. He urged residents to stay vigilant and to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities in their surroundings.
