104 Nigerian Returnees Repatriated from Algeria Arrive in Lagos

In continuation of the Assisted Voluntary Returns initiative, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria, has facilitated the return of 104 Nigerian nationals from Algeria. The returnees were received at the Lagos Operations Office on June 30, 2025.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the returnees arrived at approximately 13:50 hours via an Air Algerie flight, with flight number 70-BKT, which landed at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The group comprised 80 adult males and 14 adult females, along with two male children, five female children, and three infants. Upon arrival, the returnees were immediately attended to by officials on ground, led by the Nigerian Immigration Service, who conducted biometric registration and documentation.

NEMA Ensures Returnee Support and Dignified Repatriation in Ongoing Migration Efforts

NEMA disclosed that the returnees were also provided with necessary support, including food, water, and medical care. Additional services such as ambulance support, logistics, and assistance with their luggage were also offered to ensure their comfort and safety.

“This coordinated support was aimed at ensuring a safe and dignified return for all individuals involved,” NEMA stated, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to aiding Nigerians who choose to return home through voluntary repatriation programmes.

This recent operation follows a similar repatriation that took place on June 18, during which 147 Nigerians were returned from Agadez in Niger Republic. Both operations were facilitated by the IOM in partnership with national authorities and stakeholders focused on migrant welfare and reintegration.
