The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) of Lagos State Police Command joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme “My Identity, My Power: Creating Safer Spaces for the Nigerian Girl Child.”
The event, held at Gbaja Girls Senior High School, Surulere, aimed to empower young girls with the confidence to embrace their identity, use their voices for positive change, and secure a safer future free from social vices.

The programme featured the presence of distinguished guests, including the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, represented by DCP Dayo Akinbisehin (Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CID), ACP Oluwatoyin Kazeem (Officer-in-Charge, Gender Unit), Chief P.K. Sham (Patron, POCACOV), Mrs. Oyefeso (Principal, Gbaja Girls Senior High School), Dr. Moses Oladimeji (Chairman, POCACOV Lagos State), Ambassador Samuel Eniola (South West Chairman, represented by Chief Mrs. Victoria Omotayo), and Mr. Bassey Henry John (Former Lagos State Chairman, POCACOV).
Speakers at the event emphasised the importance of giving young girls a sense of belonging and encouraging them to steer clear of cultism, hooliganism, drug abuse, and other behaviours that endanger their future.
The girls were reminded that their power lies in their voice to speak against harassment, resist negative peer pressure, and uphold values that foster peace and safety. The event received strong support from corporate partners.
