extravaganza, the Festival of Nigeria (FON). This annual event, organized and headline
sponsored by the dynamic BON CHI Production, left attendees in awe with its vibrant
celebration of Nigerian culture and the wider African diaspora.
BON CHI Production, a woman-led company specializing in pan African creative storytelling,
video production, event management, and art sale and artist representation, took the reins as
the headline sponsor. Their unwavering support and passion for promoting African art and
entertainment shone throughout the event.
Gold Sponsor Mama Money, a global money transfer firm, added their support to the festival,
demonstrating their commitment to fostering cultural exchange and community enrichment.
One of the standout moments of FON was the presentation of a generous R10,000 donation to
the Leratong Joy For One Foundation. Peggy Chauke, the foundation’s founder, was also
honoured with the prestigious Positive Impact Award. This recognition underscored her four
decades of unwavering dedication to community service.
Minister Mike Okwudili, the Minister of Trade and Industry at the High Commission of Nigeria
South Africa, graced the occasion with his opening address, highlighting the significance of
cultural exchange and collaboration.
The festival provided a rich tapestry of experiences, from diverse musical performances that
stirred the soul to delectable Nigerian cuisines that rekindled cherished memories for the
diaspora community. Full Moon Wears hosted a mesmerizing fashion show, while the little
ones enjoyed a specially designed Kidszone, offering fun and excitement.
As an unexpected delight, complimentary henna tattoos added a touch of artistry to the
festivities, enhancing the cultural immersion for guests.
FON’s organizer, Stephanie Chiamaka Micheal, expressed her enthusiasm for the event’s
resounding success and anticipates an even more spectacular offering at FON24.
