Angry Mob

A suspected armed robber, known for snatching mobile phones from commuters, has died after being severely beaten by an angry mob at AP/Akerele Junction, Agege. The incident occurred on the morning of March 15, 2025, when residents apprehended the suspect, identified as Saidu Sinah, a.k.a. Ojubintin. A distress call was made to the Isokoko Police Division at about 6:30 a.m., alerting officers that the suspect was on the verge of being lynched.

Upon receiving the report, police officers were swiftly mobilized to the scene. However, the mob dispersed upon sighting the law enforcement team. The suspect, who had sustained critical injuries, was rescued and immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and his accomplices, who are currently at large, had allegedly stabbed a middle-aged woman before dispossessing her of her mobile phone in the same area. The victim was quickly rushed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Officers have since visited the hospital to inspect and document her condition.

The remains of the deceased suspect have been evacuated to a public morgue by the Lagos State Health and Monitoring Unit. Meanwhile, police efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other members of the gang as well as individuals involved in the mob attack. The investigation into the incident is still in progress.
