In a series of security operations across the state, the Lagos State Police Command has made significant arrests in connection with various criminal activities, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining law and order. Recent incidents include the apprehension of murder suspects in Victoria Island, the capture of a notorious cultist in Iju, and the arrest of an armed robbery suspect in Ketu. Murder Suspects Arrested in Victoria Island
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, in Victoria Island. The incident occurred on March 8, 2025, at about 15:33 hours at Harbour Point, off Wilmer Road, Victoria Island.
According to police sources, Emmanuel allegedly engaged in an altercation with Paul Digha, 33, and Sunday Olukoya over an undisclosed issue. During the confrontation, Emmanuel sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Following the report, a team of detectives visited the scene of the incident as well as the hospital, where the deceased’s body was inspected and photographed. The remains were subsequently deposited at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy. The two suspects involved in the fatal altercation have been arrested and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Notorious Cultist Arrested in Iju, Illicit Drugs Recovered
In a separate incident, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a notorious cultist, identified as Ibrahim Toheeb, alias “Baale,” at Fagba Junction, Iju, on March 8, 2025, at approximately 07:05 hours.
The arrest was made by a team of policemen from the Iju Division while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation. The suspect, aged 26, had been on the police’s wanted list for several cult-related killings. Upon his arrest, some wraps of illicit drugs were recovered from him, which were registered as exhibits. While Toheeb is now in custody, efforts are ongoing to apprehend his fleeing accomplices as investigations progress.
Armed Robbery Suspect Nabbed in Ketu, Firearm Recovered
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has also arrested a suspected armed robber at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ketu, on March 7, 2025, at about 14:00 hours.
The suspect, identified as Shaibu Useni, 27, was intercepted at ‘Y’ Junction during a routine stop-and-search operation carried out by policemen attached to the Ketu Division. Upon searching him, officers recovered a locally made revolver long gun with four expended cartridges, along with substances suspected to be hard drugs.
Useni has since been taken into custody, and the recovered exhibits have been duly registered. The police have assured that further investigations are ongoing to determine any potential links to other criminal activities.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order while urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
