
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, describing him as a titan whose legacy will resonate for generations. In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, today 28 June 2025 and released on X (formerly Twitter), the former president highlighted Dantata’s transformative impact on philanthropy and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and beyond.
Buhari noted that Dantata’s enduring legacy was built on contributions to Islamic education, healthcare, business, and rural development. “His contributions to Islamic education, health, business, and rural development will continue to inspire many people, both within and outside the country,” Buhari said, emphasizing how the late businessman’s initiatives positively influenced countless lives.
The former president praised Dantata’s leadership of one of Nigeria’s most respected business dynasties, acknowledging his stability, humility, and influence across generations. “The late billionaire, yet humble businessman, will be credited with providing a long, stable leadership to one of the oldest and respected business families in the country,” he stated.

In a personal reflection, Buhari said, “I will always cherish my interactions with him,” underscoring the personal and national significance of Dantata’s death.
He concluded his statement with prayers for the deceased and condolences to his family and community. “May Allah grant fortitude and strength to the members of the Dantata and Dangote families, the Kano Emirate Council, the government and people of the state and the country to whom the late Aminu Dantata meant a lot. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”
