Tinubu Powers Federal Fire Service Forward with Bold New Leadership Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the incoming Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, effective August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement issued by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), who signed on behalf of the President.

According to the statement, the appointment follows the scheduled retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will bow out of service on August 13, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The CDCFIB noted that Olumode brings extensive experience and institutional knowledge to the role, having transitioned from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service. He currently serves as Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service’s national headquarters.

In the course of his career, the Officer has attended and successfully completed all required in-service trainings, command courses, as well as other professional development programmes both domestically and internationally, the statement read.

He holds either membership or fellowship status in each.

The Board commended the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Jaji, for his distinguished service and leadership, highlighting his numerous contributions to the advancement of the Federal Fire Service.

The appointment of Adeyemi is expected to continue the reform agenda and operational strengthening of the Fire Service under the Tinubu administration.
