The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, at the INEC headquarters in Awka on Sunday.
According to the official results, Soludo secured a landslide victory, polling 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
INEC confirmed that 16 candidates from various political parties contested in the election. The state recorded 2,788,864 registered voters, of which 598,229 were accredited to vote. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, while 11,244 were rejected across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Prof. Omoregie noted that Soludo won convincingly in all 21 local government areas, emphasizing that the outcome reflected the overwhelming support he received from voters across Anambra. He explained that although there were isolated incidents leading to the cancellation of 10,481 votes in some wards across Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South LGAs, the margin of victory was such that it did not affect the overall result.
“After collating the results as captured in Form EC8E, I hereby declare that the election was peaceful,” Prof. Omoregie stated. “Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, having scored the highest number of valid votes and satisfied all legal requirements, is declared winner and returned elected.”

Providing a summary of the figures, the Returning Officer said the total valid votes stood at 584,054, while the total votes cast were 595,298. The election, he added, was conducted largely in accordance with electoral laws and procedures.
