The Nigerian broadcast industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran broadcaster and ICT advocate, Mr. Tayo Adewusi.
According to family sources, Mr. Adewusi passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at a public hospital in Alimosho, Lagos State, after a brief illness. He was aged 58.
In an official statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, the Cloud Network Foundation (CNF) described his passing as a huge loss, not just to the foundation but to the Nigerian media and ICT ecosystem. “It is with a broken heart that the Board of Trustees of Cloud Network Foundation announce the death of Mr. Tayo Adewusi, a veteran broadcaster of over twenty-five years,” the statement read.
The CNF hailed Adewusi as a passionate advocate for the growth of the telecommunications and ICT sectors in Nigeria. “Mr. Adewusi would be fondly remembered for his passion for the growth of the telecommunications and ICT industry and his commitment to expanding knowledge and capability building in emerging technologies,” the foundation noted.
Tayo Adewusi’s Career Achievements and Family Appeal
Over the course of his career, Adewusi earned several awards and honours for his contributions to journalism and broadcasting. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of ICT Watch Magazine and TV, a platform through which he championed digital innovation and knowledge-sharing.
The CNF appealed for prayers and support for the family he left behind. “We crave the prayers of industry stakeholders for his aged mother and the children that our friend and colleague left behind,” the statement said, adding that the family would welcome both emotional and financial support to ensure stability in the absence of their breadwinner.
While burial arrangements are yet to be finalized, the CNF confirmed that the family will release detailed information in due course.
