The chief shepherd of the Catholic metropolitan Sea of Lagos. Arch bishop Alfred Adewale Martins has called for government to see the protest as a feedback from the people they govern .
Speaking During the requiem mass for late Msgr. Patrick Olayinka Obayomi which took place at Holy Cross Cathedral, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday , he emphasized that government should listen to the citizens demand and address them to confirm that their efforts is with good intentions.
While addressing family members and all present at the event, the Arch bishop encouraged all to remember the late Msgr for the way he nurtured and nourished those under him to understand and pay attention to values.
He attested that if the late Monsignor were to be alive, his views on the protest would synchronise with the aim of the protesters against poverty, hunger and other concerns Nigerian’s are facing.
At the event that was well attended by a large crowd of Catholic Clergies and religious, the Arch bishop stressed further to say that since protest is a tool used by citizens to express their concerns, those who wish to engage in it should ensure that it’s not infiltrated by hoodlums while Law enforcement forces should exhibit respect when engaging protesters in order to ensure that citizens lives are protected not threatened.
