The 13th edition, themed ‘Building Inclusive and Resilient Digital Futures’ was hosted in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 14th-16th April 2026, and featured 415 in-person participants with 112 sessions and multiple report and product launches. In 2027, DRIF will return to Nigeria, where Paradigm Initiative was founded and where the first DRIF was hosted. The 2027 edition comes at a time when rapid technological change is reshaping how people participate in society, exercise their rights and access opportunities.
From artificial intelligence and digital governance to online expression, privacy, inclusion and emerging technologies, the digital age continues to raise new questions about who has agency, whose rights are protected and who gets to participate. DRIF27 will provide a space for these questions to be examined through conversations, practical sessions, debates, workshops and other forms of knowledge exchange. The Call for Session Proposals invites contributors to submit ideas that engage with the theme, in alignment with the following sub-themes:
- Digital Identity
- Trust and Accountability
- Data Protection and Privacy
- Cyber Governance
- Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies
- Digital Inclusion and Marginalised Groups
- Digital public infrastructure
- Digital transformation towards SDGs
- Children’s Rights Online
- Information integrity and democracy
Session proposals can be submitted via the DRIF portal until 18th October, 2026.
