The people of Eruku, a town in Kwara State, Nigeria can now breath a sigh of relief after the relentless vigilantes successfully apprehended the terrorists who raided their town .
The bandits had earlier attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, killing three people and abducting over 30 worshippers, including the pastor on Tuesday 18th of November 2025
According to reports, the vigilantes had initially laid an ambush for the bandits but suffered a setback, losing two men whose bodies are still missing. The bandits, thinking they had outsmarted the vigilantes, returned to carry their wounded members, only to walk into another ambush set by the vigilantes on all roads leading to the town.
It was disclosed that the Kwara State Police Command had earlier denied reports of the bandits’ arrest, stating that security agencies were still intensifying efforts to rescue the abducted victims. However, the vigilantes’ bravery has brought relief to the community, and they are working closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Eruku Community Reels as Authorities Act on Church Attack
Although the attack on the church was part of a series of violent incidents in the area, with bandits demanding a ransom of N100 million for each of the abducted worshippers, the community is still reeling from the shock of the attack, and residents are calling for increased security measures to prevent future occurrences
Additionally, the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has condemned the attack and promised to take action to ensure the safe release of the abducted victims.
The international community has also expressed concern over the rising tide of violence in Nigeria, with some calling for increased support to address the country’s security challenges
