The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has responded to recent comments made by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, regarding the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass Permit Policy.
It was released in a press statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. Force Public Relations Officer. Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Friday the 19th of December 2025 that
the NPF emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding public safety, and respecting due process.
According to the statement, the NPF remains committed to the rule of Law operating strictly within the framework of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, explaining that the regulation of vehicle tinted glass is grounded in law, specifically the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, Laws of the Federation (LFN), 2004.

They explained further that the Act grants the Inspector-General of Police. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM the statutory authority to issue permits, and applicants must establish legitimate security or health-related justification.
Tinted Glass Permit Policy: NPF Addresses Misconceptions
The Force also, clarified that the policy is not a revenue-driven initiative, but rather aimed at addressing public safety concerns, such as the use of obscured vehicles in crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism. However, the NPF also emphasized that it is not a revenue-generating organization, and administrative fees paid by applicants are used to sustain the technology infrastructure and workflow architecture supporting the process. They are fully cognizant of pending matters before the court including suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1821/2025 which is reserved without intentions of undermining the judicial outcomes.
They took exception to Osigwe’s claim that payments are made into a “private account” operated by Parkway Projects, describing the allegation as false and misleading. The Force explained that Parkway Projects Limited is a Central Bank of Nigeria-licensed Payment Services Provider, engaged by the Federal Government as a payment collection channel.
Additionally, the NPF reiterated its commitment to professionalism, transparency, accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights, while emphasizing its constitutional mandate to safeguard lives and property.
The Nigeria Police Force urges citizens to remain calm and engage in responsible public discourse as well while respecting the judicial processes as the courts deliberate on the matter. The Force reaffirms its commitment to upholding the law, protecting the rights of citizens, and assures the public of its dedication to maintaining peace and order in the country.
