The recent happenings in the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). It all started as a joke, electricity supply went off as usual, but it’s been 4 days now and POWER has still not been restored. The students are in agony, even those living off-campus were also affected; where do we run to?
We were told by the school authorities that the light outage was due to smoke on their battery bank at Injection station located at UNN main gate, and that the problem has been fixed but they are waiting for power supply from TCN at Nru junction. (Nepa wahala too much)
The student’s patience is running out, it’s been 4 days now and students are unable to cope anymore. To charge phone at gen station is 500 naira per phone and it’s really outrageous. There’s a general call for the school authorities to do something about it as soon as possible.
We dey even talk light for UNN, water nko
Water has been another major issue at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, especially in the girls and boys hostel, we have lacked water for weeks now, though the Dean of Students Affairs is doing his best by ensuring that Tanker’s bring water to the hostel almost every day but how long can we maintain the cost as one tanker is 35k and there are 18 hostels that must be filled up, (that is 35 times 18 hostels Almost every day), and sometimes the tankers supplying the water, complains of their poor engines or flat tyres or their inability to supply water due to one reason or the other.
Indeed, the tales of an average Nigerian students are numerous, not even for the lions and lioness’ in the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
