2026 UTME Mop-Up: JAMB Fixes June 13 for Affected Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the conduct of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates affected by various disruptions during the 2026 exercise.

According to a statement released on Monday and signed by the Board’s Public Communications Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the mop-up examination is strictly meant for candidates who were duly registered and biometrically verified but were unable to sit for the main examination due to unavoidable challenges.

JAMB explained that the affected category includes candidates whose examination centres recorded technical failures, those who could not be successfully verified biometrically despite being present, as well as candidates whose results were withdrawn over alleged examination infractions.

The Board further stated that the mop-up exercise marks the final stage of the 2026 UTME cycle and is intended to address all unresolved issues arising from the main examination period.

“The 2026 UTME was conducted between 23rd and 29th April, 2026. However, some centres experienced technical challenges which made it impossible for a number of candidates to sit the examination.

The Board further noted that “some results were subsequently withdrawn over examination infractions, while some candidates who presented themselves for the examination could not be verified biometrically,” the statement said.

JAMB Sets Final Rules for 2026 UTME Mop-Up

JAMB emphasized that the mop-up examination represents the final opportunity for affected candidates to complete their 2026 UTME process.

“The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise and serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination,” it added.

Candidates eligible for the mop-up exercise are expected to begin printing their examination notification slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, and are advised to confirm their centres and make necessary preparations ahead of the examination date.

“Affected candidates are hereby urged to print their Examination Notification Slips, familiarise themselves with their examination centres, and make all necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date,” the statement said.

The Board also warned that no further opportunity will be granted after the mop-up examination, stressing the need for strict compliance with all guidelines.

The development follows the main 2026 UTME, which was conducted between April 16 and 25, 2026, with results released from April 18. Some centres were affected by technical glitches and biometric verification issues during the exercise.

Earlier, JAMB concluded its policy meeting on May 11, 2026, where minimum cut-off marks were approved at 150 for universities, 150 for colleges of nursing, and 100 for polytechnics. Institutions, however, retain the discretion to set higher benchmarks for competitive courses.

The mop-up examination is expected to conclude the 2026 UTME cycle, after which institutions will proceed with admission processes combining UTME scores, Post-UTME results, and O-Level requirements.
