
A devastating explosion occurred inside a CCTV camera dealers shop on Friday, April 11, 2025. According to a report by the police public relations officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident took place at approximately 6:35 pm, along Kodesho Street, Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.
Five people, who sustained various degrees of injury from the blast were promptly rescued and taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical attention.
The explosion prompted an immediate response from the Lagos State Police Command, with operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Mobile Police Detachment, and Conventional Police Teams cordoning off the scene and adjoining areas. EOD experts thoroughly swept the area to ensure resident safety and facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the explosion.
It was further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, arrived at the scene within minutes, conducting an on-the-spot assessment and assuring the public that the command is in control of the situation.
Although, while the police command is working assiduously to determine the exact cause of the explosion with investigation currently underway, residents of the metropolis have been urged to remain calm and carry on with their daily activities without fear, as the scene has been rendered safe and secured.
Additionally, the Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the state.
