The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected robbers in the Idimu area of Lagos, following a routine patrol operation carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
According to the Command, operatives on patrol along Car Wash Bus-Stop near First Bank in Idimu intercepted three men riding on a motorcycle at about 2:00 a.m.
The suspects were identified as Abdullahi Mustapha, 20, Salisu Sannusi, 30, and Jamiu Sahidu, 26.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of several items believed to be linked to criminal activities. Police said officers recovered a machete concealed in the suspects’ clothing, an army camouflage uniform, four mobile phones, a power bank, squeezed naira notes, and a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AKD 40 OM.
The motorcycle was reportedly being used by the suspects to move around while carrying out their operations.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the recovered phones and power bank were suspected to have been unlawfully taken from their owners.
“The three suspects were arrested. A search on the suspects led to the recovery of a machete concealed in their clothing, army camouflage uniform, four mobile phones, one power bank, suspected to have been unlawfully taken from the owners,” the statement said.
Police Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspects had allegedly been involved in robbing unsuspecting members of the public before fleeing from crime scenes.
“They are currently in Police custody; efforts are ongoing to conclude investigations and ensure appropriate legal action is taken,” the Command stated.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the State,” the statement added.
