Championship Rescheduled to 1st–4th December 2026 at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza, Egypt
LAGOS, NIGERIA – September 25, 2026:
The All Africa Art and Chess Confederation (AAACC) has announced a change in the dates for the All Africa Art and Chess Confederation Championship 2026, earlier scheduled to hold from 1st–4th October 2026 at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza, Egypt.
The Championship will now take place from 1st–4th December 2026.
The decision to reschedule the continental event was reached after careful consideration of a number of logistical and administrative factors that could affect the participation and overall experience of delegates, students, artists, chess players, institutions and other stakeholders expected at the Championship.
Among the factors considered are the clash with the school academic calendar, which could affect the participation of students, educational institutions and school-based chess and art programmes; the additional time required for the processing and confirmation of participant registrations; and delays associated with visa processing for international participants travelling to Egypt.
The Confederation also considered other logistical and operational issues associated with international travel, accommodation, transportation, programme coordination and the participation of delegates from different African countries.
According to the organisers, the additional preparation period will provide participants and partners with more time to complete their registration, travel documentation and other necessary arrangements ahead of the Championship.
