On Monday, February 24th, 2025, a devastating hit and run accident occurred at approximately 3.35pm along the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.

It was disclosed that a yet to be identified driver who was speeding in a BRT lane at Ogindara bus stop, had struck down two female pedestrians, siblings aged 12 and 15 who were returning from oshodi.

The accident victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Orile Agege General Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the 12-year-old student passed on while receiving treatment. Her 15-year-old sibling was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for further treatment.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare M. Jimoh, has assured the public that a thorough and speedy investigation is underway. He urges all road users, especially motorists, to adhere strictly to traffic rules, speed limits, and safe driving practices.

The Commissioner also extended his condolences to the victims’ family, expressing confidence that the Command will conduct a conclusive investigation to ensure that justice is served.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and adherence to traffic laws.
