Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across Lagos and Ogun states under Operation “Kosaye.”
The coordinated security operation has so far led to the arrest of 88 suspects, the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the recovery of arms and ammunition, and the killing of four suspected criminals during a gun battle with security operatives.
Sanwo-Olu praised the efforts of the police, stating that the operation demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the governor said.
He also applauded the efforts of the police under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and acknowledged the cooperation between Lagos and Ogun states in tackling crime.
“We appreciate the huge efforts of the police as directed by Inspector-General Tunji Disu in arresting the suspects and the cooperation of our neighbours, Ogun State. This is the way it should be,” he added.
Operation Kosaye Targets Criminal Hideouts
According to the state government, Operation “Kosaye”—which means “no space for criminals”—is aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates, armed robbery gangs, and other violent criminal networks operating across the Southwest.
Security operatives are currently combing forest areas along the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere in Ogun State, a boundary between Lagos and Ogun, as part of the ongoing operation.
Authorities noted that the sustained intelligence-led operation has resulted in a strong security presence across both states, with police commands displaying recovered weapons and parading suspects as a warning to criminal elements.
The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring there is no hiding place for kidnappers and other violent criminals through sustained security efforts.
Sanwo-Olu also urged Lagos residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information on criminal hideouts.
He assured that the Lagos State Government would continue to motivate law enforcement agencies through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
