All the pupils and teachers abducted in the May 15, 2026 attack in Ahoro-Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued. The victims had been held for nearly two months after gunmen attacked schools in the community and kidnapped dozens of children, teachers, and a school principal.
According to the report, the rescue has also been confirmed by the Presidency. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced that security agencies successfully secured the release of all the abducted victims, describing it as the outcome of sustained security operations.
The mass abduction had triggered nationwide concern, protests by student groups, appeals from human rights organisations, and repeated assurances from both the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government that efforts were underway to secure the victims’ freedom.
