NDLEA Intercepts Ammunition in Garri, Tramadol Concealed in Palm Oil Containers

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a cache of military-grade ammunition concealed inside bags of cassava flakes, commonly known as garri, during an anti-narcotics operation.

In a separate interception, officers also uncovered thousands of pills of tramadol 225mg hidden inside a keg of red palm oil. The discoveries were shared in a statement posted on X on Sunday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, who noted that operatives frequently encounter other dangerous items while searching for illicit drugs and concealed narcotics.

NDLEA Highlights Hidden Threats Beyond Drug Trafficking

The statement further explained that such findings highlight wider security concerns beyond drug trafficking. It read:

“In the course of our work searching for illicit drug concealment, we also stumble on other items that constitute threats to national security as it happened in the attached videos.

“In one instance, #ndlea_nigeria officers discovered a large cache of military grade ammunition in cassava flakes (garri) and in the second video, thousands of tramadol 225mg pills were found concealed in a keg of red oil.

“The things we see in the line of duty enh ,” the statement added.”
