The Lagos State Police Command has successfully moved to calm the growing anxiety among parents and residents following the circulation of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, warning of a planned attack and mass abduction of pupils by bandits.
In a press statement issued on Monday 8th June 2026 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police stated that they were aware of the viral notice but stressed that there was “presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State.”
While urging parents, guardians, and school authorities to remain calm and avoid panic, the Command emphasize that every security concern is treated with “utmost seriousness.”
In the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips has ordered an immediate security assessment of the affected school and surrounding areas reassuring residents of safety. He also directed “watertight security measures” across the location and other strategic points in the state.
In response, police personnel have been deployed in collaboration with other security agencies to provide visible patrols and surveillance around schools, critical infrastructure, and residential communities. The aim, according to the Command, is to deter any criminal element and ensure the safety of students and residents.
Police Urge Vigilance, Public Cooperation
Meanwhile, residents are encouraged to support security agencies with timely and credible information to ensure a collective responsibility and effective policing efforts between the Police and members of the public.
The Police declares that Lagos State remains secure and that “every lawful measure is being taken to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating or operating within the State.”
However, in the statement the Command further warned that it will not tolerate attempts by miscreants, bandits, kidnappers, or any group to threaten the peace and safety of residents. “Any individual or group found engaging in acts capable of causing fear, panic, or insecurity will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.”
Additionally, the Police called on residents to remain vigilant advising Members of the public to promptly report any suspicious persons, objects, movements, or activities to the nearest police station.
