
The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into allegations of complicity and other wrongdoings levelled against the Commander of the Okokomaiko Tactical Squad.
In a statement released on June 15, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hunleyin, it was reported that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has set up a committee of senior officers to probe the allegations.
The committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and including the OC Legal of the Command, has been tasked with investigating the allegations to submit its findings within a week. In order to ensure an interrupted investigation, the Tactical Commander has been redeployed from the tactical squad.
The allegations is pertaining to the investigation process and prosecution procedure of six suspects accused of serious crimes.
As emphasis, Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that it will take a zero-tolerance stance on any form of corruption, complicity, or compromise of investigation and prosecution procedures by its officers.
It was disclosed that If found guilty, the officer involved will face appropriate disciplinary measures, which will serve as a deterrent to others. The Commissioner of Police has called for caution and restraint, urging the public to trust the police and assuring them that every wrongdoing proven against any officer will be redressed.
It is expected that the outcome of the investigation would be made public in demonstrating the command’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
