Lagos 2027: Awoyemi Samuel Declares For Assembly Seat, Unveils 7-Point Manifesto

Awoyemi Tola Samuel has officially declared his intention to run for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat for Ikorodu Constituency 2. It was reported that Awoyemi, a Computer graduate and indegene of Ikorodu pledged “Smarter, Safer, More Productive Ikorodu 2” for 2027 general election

Aside that, he will run on the platform of the African Action Congress, AAC, with the slogan “AAC Take It Back, Take Your Freedom Back.”

In his declaration statement, Awoyemi stated that he is seeking the party’s ticket “with your support, encouragement, and votes,” adding that “by God’s grace I will win the 2027 election.” He pledged to represent the people faithfully and ensure the voices of Ikorodu Constituency 2 are heard in the Lagos Assembly.” I believe that together we can build a better future for our people through good governance, justice, development and service to humanity” he said .

Anchored on AAC’s ideology, Awoyemi released a 7-point manifesto centered on infrastructure, welfare, and accountability. His Key promises include

He committed himself to making every road in the constituency motorable and durable through construction and rehabilitation of inner roads. He also promised proper drainage to prevent flooding and installation of streetlights across all streets “so no community will be left behind when it comes to access and connectivity.”

Awoyemi noted that power is an essential tool for development stating that he plans to advocate for improved power distribution, support community-based energy solutions like solar streetlights and mini-grids, and work with authorities to reduce outages.

Calling education “a right, not a privilege,” he promised to promote free basic education, support learning materials and school infrastructure, and encourage youth empowerment through international-standard vocational training and skill acquisition programs.

While making his declaration, he pledged to facilitate the construction of a functional, international-standard community hospital. He also proposed allocating “up to 50% of available constituency resources” in a structured, transparent way to fund basic healthcare, maternal care, and emergency response systems.

Under his leadership, he promised “zero tolerance for police harassment and illegal activities,” respect for citizens’ rights including freedom of speech, and collaboration with security agencies to ensure safety while upholding accountability.

His ideology, he said, is rooted in fairness: “Government must serve the people, not the other way around.” He promised equal opportunities regardless of background and that public resources would be used for collective good, not private gain.

Emphasizing further he declared that the plan includes proper street lighting, clean environment and waste management systems as well as organized urban planning to improve living standards.

Awoyemi Rolls Out Seven-Point Development Agenda

However, In a separate pledge titled “A Smarter, Safer, More Productive Ikorodu 2,” Awoyemi leaned on his Computer Science background. He proposed the following –

  1. Youth, Skills & Jobs: Establishment of ICT and vocational training centers in Ikorodu 2, tax incentives for businesses that hire/train residents, and a constituency internship/mentorship program linking graduates with Lagos private sector partners.
  2. Education & Innovation: Advocacy for increased funding and accountability in public schools, digital literacy programs, and scholarships for indigent students via public-private partnerships.
  3. Security & Community Safety: Stronger community policing with traditional leaders and CDAs, bills for better street lighting and CCTV in key areas, and enforcement of laws against extortion and abuse.
  4. Infrastructure & Environment: Oversight for road rehabilitation, drainage, clean water, and stable power in underserved areas, plus sustainable waste management and flood control.
  5. Tech-Enabled Governance: Quarterly town hall meetings, published reports on bills and constituency projects, e-governance initiatives, and an “open-door office” where issues are tracked to resolution.
  6. Support for Women, Traders & Artisans: Low-interest loans and grants for market women and SMEs, skills upgrade programs for artisans, and policies to protect traders from harassment and illegal levies.
  7. Clean, Safe & Well-Planned Communities: Proper street lighting across all areas Clean environment and waste management systems Organized urban planning to improve living standards.

In his closing remark, Awoyemi gave his assurance stating, ” I stand for a constituency where roads are accessible, lights are always on, education is free, healthcare is guaranteed, and people’s voices are respected,” Awoyemi stated. “I bring a blend of technical knowledge, youth perspective, and commitment to service. I will be accessible, accountable, and active.”

He concluded by saying “This is our time to build a constituency that works for everyone. Vote Awoyemi Tola Samuel for a Smarter, Safer, and More Prosperous Ikorodu Constituency 2. God bless Ikorodu. God bless Lagos State.”

Ikorodu Constituency 2 covers parts of Ikorodu LGA and has been a competitive seat in past elections. Party primaries for the 2027 cycle are expected to begin in 2026.
