Well Deserved Elevation for Dr. Opeyemi Ojo as IGP, PSC Approves Promotion From Inspector to Superintendent

In a moment of pride and jubilation at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Dr Opeyemi Ojo was decorated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, with his new rank of Superintendent of Police following his promotion and conversion from the Inspectorate cadre.

It was revealed in a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, anipr, mipra on Tuesday 28 July, 2026; that the decoration ceremony was conducted in line with the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, and the approval of the Police Service Commission for the officer’s upgrade.

While decorating SP (Dr) Ojo, CP Fatai congratulated him on what he described as a “well-deserved elevation,” noting that the promotion was in recognition of the doctor’s professional competence, dedication, and invaluable contributions to healthcare service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Fatai Charges Opeyemi on Professional Excellence

The CP urged the newly decorated Superintendent to remain steadfast in the discharge of his professional responsibilities, and to continue upholding the ethics of the medical profession as well as the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Your promotion is not just a personal achievement, but also a reflection of the importance the Force places on professional expertise in service delivery,” CP Fatai said.

Dr Opeyemi Ojo’s elevation from Inspector to Superintendent is expected to further strengthen medical services within the Lagos Command, where police doctors play a critical role in attending to personnel, their families, and in some cases, members of the public during emergencies.

“The Lagos State Police congratulates SP (Dr) Opeyemi Ojo on his promotion and wishes him continued success in his career and service to the nation,” the statement read.

The ceremony was well attended by senior officers, colleagues, and well-wishers who described the promotion as a morale booster for professionals serving within the Force.

The Command reiterated its commitment to rewarding hard work, professionalism, and dedication among officers across all cadres.
