Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have successfully arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered one locally made single-barrel pistol during a raid at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
It was revealed in a press statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, anipr, mipra on Friday August 4, 2026 that, the arrest is part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to crackdown on cultism and violent crimes across the metropolis
The command mobilized a surveillance team to the area and arrested one Segun Alani, male, aged 24, following an immediate credible intelligence information on cult-related activities in the area.
“Acting on the information, operatives immediately mobilised a surveillance team to Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin,” the statement said.
During the operation, a search of the bag in Alani’s possession led to the recovery of one locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside.
Police Intensify Efforts to Tackle Cultism
The Command further disclosed that the suspect is currently in police custody and is providing useful information to aid further investigation.
Police added that efforts are ongoing to track other members of the group and possible sources of the firearms.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the officers for their prompt and intelligence-driven response.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to disrupting cult-related activities and mopping up illegal firearms across Lagos State.
“CP Fatai warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full wrath of the law,” SP Adebisi stated.
However, the Lagos State Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around them to enable prompt response.
